Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL)

We provide high-quality, mechanical maintenance solutions.

MFL is a non-destructive testing method used to detect corrosion and pitting in steel structures, most commonly on storage tank bottoms. The basic principle is that the steel surface to be tested is magnetized using a strong magnet. At areas where corrosion is present or material thickness has been reduced, the magnetic field leakage will occur. When utilizing the MFL equipment, a magnetic detector is placed between the poles of the magnet to detect the leakage field. The degree of magnetic leakage is then analyzed to identify damaged areas and estimate the depth of metal loss. CMI Services commonly includes the MFL inspection technique in most tank inspection scopes when the tank is constructed of ferro-magnetic material.

We’re more than an asset management company, we’re a safety company, by providing integrated services that combine advanced technology solutions with a focused and driven work ethic  redefining what an MI and maintenance service provider can offer.
